Santorini is less obviously a children's destination than some Greek islands, but the volcano crater hike by boat and Perissa's dark volcanic beach give it a distinct character that older kids and teens respond to well. FamiVentura's Santorini guides cover the island's most memorable experiences for families, from the Oia sunset to the black sand beaches and the caldera boat trips.
Order tomato keftedes at every taverna you visit - they're the simplest way to taste what the volcanic soil actually produces. The PDO tomato variety that goes into them is only grown on this island. Most accessible of all the local specialties for the full age range.
Pair with the fava - both local PDO products at the same table is the easy introduction to Santorini's distinct agricultural identity.

Santorini Fava with Capers and Lemon
Order fava at every traditional taverna you visit. It's one of the two foods (with the cherry tomatoes) that most directly expresses what Santorini's volcanic soil produces. Mild enough for all ages, interesting enough for adults.

Fresh Fish at Ammoudi Bay Tavernas
A small harbor at the bottom of 300 steps from Oia, with tavernas serving genuinely fresh locally-caught fish at about half the price of equivalent food in the village above. The view is harbor rather than caldera. Lunch is better than dinner - the evening brings the sunset crowd walking down from Oia. Drive down by the road, walk back up the steps for the experience.
