Day 1

Harbour Walk, Old Town, and the Waterfront

A gentle first day in the old town, the Kaleiçi streets are narrow but mostly walkable with a stroller on the main routes, and the harbour waterfront is completely flat. Morning museum visit, lunch, hotel nap, then an easy afternoon at the clifftop park before an early dinner at the marina.

The garden cafés along the marina strip do a full Turkish breakfast spread in a shaded outdoor setting, exactly the right pace for a toddler morning. Small plates of cheese, olives, tomatoes, honey, and bread arrive gradually; there's no rush and no entertainment gap to fill while food is being prepared. The harbour is visible below and there's enough foot traffic to keep small eyes occupied. High chairs are usually available at the larger cafés; check when you arrive.

Hadrian's Gate and Karaalioglu Park

Hadrian's Gate is three Roman arches toddlers can run through repeatedly, the marble is smooth and the open space on both sides provides natural run-around room. The gate leads into Kaleiçi but rather than navigating the narrow cobblestone lanes with a stroller, cut south to Karaalioglu Park on the clifftop. This large flat park above the harbour has wide paved paths, shade trees, and a clear view of the sea below. Toddlers can walk freely here, chase pigeons, and burn morning energy without cobblestone complications.

Antalya Museum: Selected Galleries

Taxi from Kaleiçi, 10 minutes

Don't attempt the full museum, do the Sculpture Hall and the children's section only, then leave. The giant Roman statues (several over three metres tall) are the right scale to impress toddlers, and the large marble faces are expressive in a way small children respond to. The museum has a stroller-friendly layout throughout. Exit to the garden before anyone gets tired, the garden has large statues in the open air, a small café, and shade. Total time of 60 minutes is plenty; over-visiting museums with toddlers creates associations you don't want.

Early Lunch: Pide Near the Museum

Lunch at one of the pide restaurants near the museum before heading back for nap. Pide (Turkish wood-fired flatbread) with cheese filling (peynirli pide) is the safest bet for toddlers, mild, familiar in texture, and arrives relatively quickly. Avoid the marina restaurants at this hour since the cobblestone return is harder with a tired toddler in a stroller. A simple lokanta near the museum does the job.
