Antalya balances Mediterranean beach life with genuine history, and families get both the clean long stretches of Konyaalti Beach and the well-preserved Roman ruins at Perge within easy reach of each other. Land of Legends near Kemer is the kind of full-day theme park that absorbs an entire family, while Antalya Aquarium's world-record-length shark tunnel leaves younger kids stunned in a good way. FamiVentura's Antalya guides cover the city's beaches, ancient sites, and family activities for every age group.
Saklikent is the second deepest gorge in Europe and the cold water (7 degrees Celsius, constant) is the first thing everyone notices. The wooden walkways from the entrance give way to wading: ankle-to-knee-deep freezing river flowing between 300-meter limestone walls. The physical contrast between the heat of the approach and the cold of the gorge makes it one of the more visceral excursions available from Antalya. Older kids and teens both want to wade further than expected once they've adjusted to the temperature.
Water shoes essential for both age groups — the river wading section is where most of the experience happens and footing matters.
Go in the morning before the afternoon heat builds on the approach; the gorge itself stays cool.
The trout farm restaurants at the entrance are a good lunch after the wading — fresh river trout grilled simply.

Perge Ancient City Tour
Perge's colonnaded street, Hellenistic gate, and Roman stadium sit 15 km from Antalya in a state of preservation that rewards walking through rather than reading about. For older kids, the scale of the stadium and the main street are the draws; teens can engage with the historical layers — Greek foundation, Alexander's arrival, Roman prosperity, and the mathematical legacy of Apollonius of Perge. The Antalya Museum holds the finest sculptures from the excavation and works well as a companion visit.
Morning departure before 09:00 — the site gets hot quickly in summer and the best shade comes from the colonnaded street early in the day.
A guide hired at the entrance adds significant value; otherwise the site requires considerable background knowledge to interpret.
The Antalya Museum and Perge work well as a combined half-day: museum first (the sculptures), then the site.

Ciralı Beach and the Chimaera
Çıralı offers two things that most Antalya excursions don't: a genuinely undeveloped beach and the Chimaera fires above it. The fires burn from natural methane seeps in the hillside and have been doing so for millennia — seeing them at night, walking up through forest to find flames burning from bare rock, is memorable. The beach below is a turtle nesting site with minimal development. The distance (85 km from Antalya) makes an overnight stay more worthwhile than a day trip.
Beach open always; Chimaera accessible during daylight (best after dark)
Price
Free beach; pension from €40/night
Duration
Full day or overnight
Booking required
No
Tips
Book a pension in the village rather than attempting a day trip from Antalya; the fires at night and a full beach day require two things: accommodation and time.
Flashlights essential for the Chimaera evening walk.
The beach nesting markers for sea turtles (May through October) are part of the conservation story worth explaining before arrival.
