Book the tower lift tickets in advance (Nativity Tower is the one to choose, the lift drops you partway up and you walk down open stone stairs, which toddlers find thrilling rather than terrifying). The basilica floor is the real highlight: the nave's tree-column ceiling filters morning light into a forest canopy of greens and golds, and the sheer scale keeps toddlers silently craning their necks upward for a good five minutes, which is toddler eternity. Strollers park at the entrance. Carry your toddler through the interior to navigate the crowds more fluidly.

Point out Gaudí's Casa Batlló and Casa Milà as you pass, the organic stone facades and dragon-scale roof get a reliable 'woah' from toddlers even without any explanation.

Pick up bocadillos from a bakery on the walk back to eat in the room at 12:00, jamón or tortilla española are reliable toddler hits.
