Off the Beaten Path
Seongsu-dong's former shoe factory district has become Seoul's most authentic creative neighbourhood, with industrial buildings now housing cafés and design studios and traditional workshops still operating between them. The area around Daelim Warehouse and Yeonmujang-gil rewards slow walking over efficient sightseeing.
Activities
Myeongdong is Seoul's main shopping district. A wide, pedestrianized commercial street lined with international retail and Korean beauty brands, with street food vendors running the length and street performers claiming the intersections. Everyone finds something: toddlers eat street food; kids browse the free beauty samples and watch performers; teens shop; adults navigate. The main street is wide enough for strollers except at peak Saturday evenings. Plan 2 hours starting around 17:00 when vendors set up.

Budae jjigae is designed for sharing — one pot, everyone eating from it, the broth deepening as the meal progresses. The communal format suits families well, and the ingredients are familiar enough that no one goes hungry even if they're cautious eaters. Ask for mild base if anyone is sensitive to spice; the flavour holds without the heat. A full pot feeds four with rice on the side.
